Walk in the Park in the Dark

What a Success!

Saturday, 19 June

Thank you for participating in Sport Marlborough's annual Walk in the Park in the Dark - a night time walk on the Wither Hills Farm Park.

People of all fitness levels and ages participated in this fun, family torch light walk.  This event promotes Sport & Recreation New Zealand's Push Play message of 30 minutes exercise per day and was an ideal opportunity for families to get together and get active.

The children's fancy dress competition was a great success and we had loads of kids in costume!

The Wither Hills Farm Park is only open to the public one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset, so taking part in this event gave people a chance to experience the Wither Hills by night, star gaze and also enjoy the spectacular views of the night lights of Marlborough.

Two walk options were offered:

  1. The short walk on the Gentle Annie Track, approximately 30 minutes

  2. The long walk on the Lower Quail Stream/Twin Tanks track, approximately 1 - 1½ hours

Following the walk participants enjoyed a sausage sizzle (school fundraising event) and free hot drinks or a hot toddy.
