Active Movement

Sport Marlborough's Active Movement Advisor, Fran Andrews, is working with kindergartens and other pre-school settings to upskill and advise early childhood educators, parents and caregivers on fun and appropriate ways to make physical activity a part of young childrens' lives.

Fran is available to come to your early childhood centre to show you how to use the SPARC 'Active Movement/Koringa Hihiko' resource. This set of 14 booklets covers a variety of developmental areas for young chilren.  Sport Marlborough run a variety of seminars and practical workshops parents and caregivers to gain valuable know-how to assist the development of their children.

Resources

As part of the Active Movement initiative Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) has produced some fantastic resources.

Active Movement 14 Activity Guides for Children Under 5 (set of 14)

These free guides help with ideas on how to incorporate quality physical activity into your children's lives.

Walking, Running & Jumping

Upper Body Development: Climbing, Hanging & Swinging

These brochures are available in English, Maori, Samoan, Tongan or Chinese and are free of charge.

Copies can be collected or ordered through the Sport Marlborough Active Movement Advisor.

Active Movement DVD's

These free 'Active Movement for under fives' DVDs are taken from the ‘Nought to Five' TV series - Series One and Series Two.

The DVD contains recommendations for activities for children in the different age groups under 5, and shows how you can get your child moving and consequently learning.

Copies can be collected orordered through the Sport Marlborough Active Movement Advisor.
